About the Nerd.

Hi there.  I’m Karen, and I aspire to be an uber-nerd.  I have natural nerdy tenancies such as being an obsessed book junkie. But when it comes to techie things such as website development and design, I’m not a natural.

This website is my journey in teaching myself how to be more techie. Last year, I started my website Dreamin’ the Life from scratch. I was such a beginner that I didn’t even know how to purchase a website name (domain), let alone set up the site.

I have found that there are so many things that go into setting up a website. To help me remember the things that I research how to do, I type or write them out. This site is a journal of those lessons.

Many people that develop websites, do graphic design, or blog professionally forget what it is like to just start out. Once they learn something, they have no patience for some newbie that knows less than them. It’s incredibly frustrating to not be able to do something that you don’t know how to do. This site is my attempt to remember every techie thing that I teach myself to do.

I don’t want to have to pay a website designer or developer forever to do things for me. I want to learn how to do it myself. It may take a lot of extra time to teach myself, but with the resources available online and in books, anything is possible.

This is my journey of becoming nerdier today than yesterday. I hope you can learn something along with me.
